Cloverleaf Lakes Triathlon

If you woke up to pouring rain at 6a.m. doing a race may not have sounded like the best idea.  Tricia, Kristin, Scott and Chad all braved the storms and showed up to Cloverleaf Lakes to set up and prepare for their last tri of the season.  The rain cleared out just in time for the start of the swim.  Tricia and Kristin started in wave 1 followed by Chad and Scott.  The swim was warm but a bit weedy as Tricia found herself pulling at weeds to propel herself forward at times.  They all came out of the water to their own wetsuit stripper (aka Brian B) and headed up to transition.  The bike course was a bit hilly but GBMS represented well as they came in strong in the first group of those to return.  The run was a scenic route around the lake.  Tricia took the women’s division with a first place finish overall, Kristin placed 3rd in her age group, Scott placed 1st in his age group and Chad also placed first in his age group.   Hardware all around for GBMS! Way to go!!!

Cloverleaf is a small race but well run, mile markers at each mile on the bike and the run course, awesome volunteers and stellar after race buffet complete with summer sausage and cheese curds.  The money from this race went to a great cause.  $5 from each entry went to help pay medical bills for a child whom has a rare form of cancer from the Clintonville area.  When the DJ announced the check was for $975 and they were shy of $25 to make the $1000 goal it was heartwarming to see several members of our team walk up to the family with cash in hand to donate to the cause.
