IRONMAN WISCONSIN

It was a beautiful morning for Ironman Wisconsin.  As the sun rose over the lake swimmers began entering the water.  It is always such an amazing scene to see over 2500 swimmers treading water waiting for the cannon to go off.  As we stood on the top of the Monona Terrace we had a bird’s eye view.  The cannon went off, we all had chills as the swimmers began their long journey ahead.  We cheered on all the GBMS members hoping they could some way hear us between swim strokes.  All members came out of the water with some amazing times.  It was on to T1 and the bike.  We stood just next to the terrace hoping we would catch a good view of everyone coming onto the bike.  As we watched we heard a loud roar and saw the flyover that was promised.  Brought chills to us all as we remembered the significance of the date and the events that happened only 10 years before.  Just after the jets fly over we saw Lee, Mike, Travis, Eric, Chris and Ray, cheering them on as they went out on their 112 mile bike adventure.  We tried to catch the guys at the halfway point in Verona to cheer them to the second loop of their bike course.  They all looked strong as we headed back to Madison to catch the run.  The sun was out and it was a hot afternoon.  We tried to keep a smile on everyone’s face as we rang our cow bells and cheered them on to the finish.  It was an awesome day and all at GBMS are so proud of Lee, Travis, Mike, Chris and Ray who are all an IRONMAN!!
